The Daily News Golden Gloves championships at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center was the 86th year for the tournament, and Titus Williams (Freeport PAL) beat Vassiliy Zherebnenko (NYAC), 4-1, in the 132-pound open final. After twice having failed to get past Zherebnenko in past Golden Gloves he finally broke through and was crowned 132 pound Champion. Williams was awarded the Sugar Ray Robinson Award for the tournament’s best open class boxer after an excellent tournament performance.
